Looker Studio Is Data Studio Again on Its Third Name in Eight Years
On April 10, 2026, Google renamed Looker Studio back to Data Studio, ending a 3.5-year experiment that began October 11, 2022. Every existing report, data source, embed link, and user permission transitioned automatically — nothing to migrate. The rebrand also bundled three free-tier capabilities most WooCommerce stores have not noticed: a new Data Studio home page surfacing BigQuery and Colab assets alongside reports, Conversational Analytics on BigQuery data inside the Pro tier, and a clean strategic split where Looker handles enterprise governance and Data Studio handles ad-hoc reporting at $9 per user per project.
