Frequently Asked Questions
Server Side Event Tracking
What is Server Side Tagging?
Server Side Tagging is a new way of data collection where you set up your own server that collects data from your website. This makes you the owner of the collected data. Through this server, Google Tag Manager is then invoked. This method of data collection is called Server Side Tagging.
Why do you need Server Side Tracking?
Traditional client-side tracking is failing. Ad blockers affect over 30% of users, stripping UTM parameters and blocking tracking scripts. Privacy-focused browsers like Brave are growing, and third-party cookies are being phased out.
Server-side tracking flows through your own domain first, making it virtually unblockable. You’ll recover at least 30% more accurate data compared to traditional methods. As privacy regulations tighten, businesses using client-side tracking lose valuable insights daily.
Server-side tracking ensures your marketing data remains reliable and complete in today’s privacy-first landscape.
Tracking Server
Who looks after the tracking server?
The tracking server is provided as part of our Transmute EngineTM service. It’s a 100% managed server so you have nothing to do.
Do we have access to the server?
No. Your dedicated server operates as a completely secure black box. Even Seresa engineers cannot access your server or raw data. Should any issue arise in the rare circumstances when intervention is needed, we systematically replace the entire server instance rather than accessing it directly. No data is ever lost during this event.
Your data flows from your website straight to your analytics platforms (like GA4) through our encrypted outPIPETM system.
The server temporarily processes and immediately forwards your data, storing only anonymized batch statistics for delivery confirmation. Your privacy and data security are absolute.
Does the server run on a sub domain?
Yes absolutely! Your dedicated tracking server operates on your own subdomain (like data.yoursite.com). This first-party setup is crucial because it ensures your tracking data comes from your domain, making it virtually impossible for ad blockers to identify and block.
Setting up requires just one simple DNS update to point the given subdomain to our servers. This first-party approach maintains the same domain authority as your main website, dramatically improving data accuracy.
* Can we have more than 12 outPIPES on Enterprise?
Absolutely! Enterprise plans are designed to scale with your needs.
When you add outPIPES beyond 12, we’ll assess your current server’s capacity to ensure optimal performance. If your server has headroom, we’ll enable the additional outPIPES immediately at $10 each.
If you need more processing power, we’ll provide a custom quote for a server upgrade that supports your target configuration. This ensures your event tracking remains fast and reliable as you scale.

Why do we not need GTM?
GTM requires expensive developers and ongoing maintenance that can cost thousands annually. Every time you add a new platform or change tracking, you need technical expertise to configure containers, triggers, and variables—often breaking existing setups!
Transmute EngineTM by Seresa eliminates this complexity entirely.
It’s like being able to throw GTM in a virtual bin! Simply install our WordPress plugin, connect your platforms through our intuitive interface, and you’re done. No GTM containers to maintain, no developer costs, no technical consultants needed. Event data just flows with ease from A to B.
While others struggle with GTM’s learning curve and frequent updates, you’ll have enterprise-level tracking running in minutes. Your marketing team can focus on strategy instead of technical troubleshooting. It’s server-side tracking made simple.
If we keep GTM does Transmute Engine still work?
Absolutely! Transmute EngineTM by Seresa seamlessly integrates with your existing GTM setup. We respect your current dataLayer implementation, so nothing breaks when you add our solution.
Even better, Transmute Engine captures custom dataLayer events that GTM might miss or struggle to process. This gives you the flexibility to route critical events through our reliable server-side pipeline while maintaining your existing GTM configurations.
You get the best of both worlds: keep your current setup running while upgrading to bulletproof server-side tracking. Many clients start this way, then gradually migrate entirely to Transmute Engine once they see the superior data quality and simplicity.
